Social Emotional Curriculum

Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center’s Social-Emotional Curriculum focuses on building strong, happy, and resilient children who can succeed socially and academically.

Working closely with parents and other caregivers, and with professional consultants as needed, we help children develop self-esteem, self-reliance, awareness of others, compassion, and other social skills.

Our part-time school psychologist works with teachers and families to guide positive behavior and to address issues, and our parent outreach programs feature workshops and discussions to give families information and tools to guide healthy early childhood development.

The Center’s all-school social-emotional curriculum focuses on the whole child, providing support as children learn and grow, and tracking their growth.

We have received grants that allow us to work with both the Yale Child Study Center and the Devereux Center for Resilient Children to implement research-based programs in social-emotional growth and assessment.
