The impact of the Covid-19 virus is staggering for the working families that serve the Hamptons communities year-round and in the summer. These are families who were struck overnight by the shutdown of their “non-essential” businesses. These working families are parents that form the backbone of our community taking the direct hit of this economic disruption at the time in the year that traditionally begins the busiest season and their peak earning period. These are seasonal workforce families who depend upon their Spring, Summer and early Fall earnings to compensate for off-season slow down.

THE FUND FOR 631 was established by a Collaborative of six East End non-profits  with the sole purpose of protecting the most vulnerable, and to ensure that no family falls through the cracks. Member organizations are: Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center,  Children’s Museum of the East End, I-Tri Girls, Heart of the Hamptons, and the East Hampton and Springs Food Pantries.

THE FUND FOR 631 will provide food and necessities to this most vulnerable group. For a cost of $500 per family of 6 (the average size of the families targeted) we can supply a week’s worth of support: $400 of food, and $100 in essential items such as cleaning supplies, diapers, OTC medicine and feminine hygiene products; $5,000 takes a family through this crisis for the next 10 weeks, at which point they can hopefully begin to re-start their lives. In addition, this fund will also help provide free childcare for first responders and essential workers in the community at the Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center.

Donations should be made to EWECC, the 501( c) (3) who will collect funds and distribute them evenly between the six organizations for them to purchase and distribute product to the hardest hit families on the East End.

You can also send a check made out to EWECC and note that you would like it to be used for the 631 Fund. Checks should be mailed to:
EWECC, PO Box 63, East Hampton, NY 11937.

All donations are 100% tax deductible.
